Soldier in Iraq to Watch Childbirth in Appleton

Modern technology is helping a military family share a miracle.

Jill Verstegen is in the birthing unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton.

Her husband Tim is serving his country in Iraq but is watching the birth of his first child via video conference.

"Nervousness, like any young future father would be," Tim Verstegen said. "Whether I'm in the room or not, I'm going to be nervous either way about it. Very nervous but excited."

"I'm glad he's here, there. It would be nicer if he was here but at least we can see, watch each other," Jill said.

Tim hopes to be home in January to hold his firstborn.
